Job cuts

I read about all of these job cuts that are taking place and I wonder what people are thinking. The more people that are laid off the less money there is to buy things, so how does it help in the end if you slash jobs but then have no one to buy your products because the firm down the street did the same thing? If I have to cut jobs and then another business cuts jobs because the people that I laid off are not able to buy their products then there are more out of work who cannot buy my products and so it goes on and on.

All this does is depress everything, because if people are unable to find another job or have to take a job that pays less then less will be purchased. It seems that one should not only look at getting rid of the average employee but also see how much can be saved by looking at wages across the board and managing the decreases that way. Maybe not so many would have to be laid off or anyone at all laid off.

Along with this, if the product needs grow, who will be there to do the work? Would anyone want to come back to a firm that had no qualms in letting people go? I think it would make for some very uneasy relationships amongst the employee and management, so that might lead to more problems in the future. And one cannot always count on more people moving in that would take the jobs.

Financial crisis

It is sort of strange that in this day and age when we are supposed to be so advanced that financial problems like what has gripped the world could happen. Or could it be that man’s greed has pushed aside his morals? Now, all of the people that do not make the large amounts of money every year will be left hanging in the wind and along with the rest of the taxpayers be the ones to pay the price for all of this.

Maybe we should start to demand some sort of change in how things are done since so many problems have surfaced over the past few years and so much money has gone up in smoke. There is a limit to what people can absorb, no matter what the folks in government say or think. And speaking of that, why is it that the experts are always so surprised when the numbers do not match what they think they should? If one is an expert, then you should be prepared for all of this and have a better idea as to what is really going on in mainstream society.

Crime

I think it would be interesting to do a study on why humans have not risen about the need to commit crimes. After all, you would think that after a few thousand years of civilization that we would have climbed out of the slime and no longer commit crimes. But every day there is news of murders, rapes, auto thefts, burglaries, and other types of crimes taking place.

Is it that since the number of people on the planet has increased so much that it seems like there is more crime? Or are we still so low on the mental meter that we are unable to grasp the fact that this is something that should not be done? Obviously, whatever the reason or reasons we have not found out what needs to be done to stop it.

Perhaps it is due to drug addiction, or envy of what others have that is driving people to commit crimes even in this day and age. Or could it be that humans are just of a sort that no matter what will do this? There can be many more reasons I am sure that are the driving force behind what causes men and women to do these deeds, but it is also clear that any solutions that have been thought of so far do not work.

At the most the laws and prisons that are in place only serve to separate the criminals from the public for a short time, and then out they go to perpetrate more crimes on the public. In some cases they do spend their life or a significant number of years behind bars but at what cost? There is the fact that the taxpayer has to pay for all of this, which drains money that could be better spent on other needful items but is not there because of the crime costs. There is also the fact that there are many others who might have lost a parent, or brother or sister to being murdered, and now have to go through life without that person.

The property that is lost might be covered by insurance but in the end who pays the bill for the insurance company? You guessed it, all of the other insured when their rates go up because of the losses. So, it can be seen that there are many losers in this and it does not seem that there are any winners, since the criminal loses out on what they took or even get a death sentence at times. It seems that there should be more devoted to finding a way to determine the root cause and then to developing a way to remove it, or better ways to curtail it.

However, this is just my opinion on this matter and some of my observations as to what is going on in the world today.

Football players

I watched the football game last night and was wondering about some of these players that try to go after the officials. Are they not supposed to be adults? What does that say about the mentality of these players? After all, it’s only a game, right?

Internet and children

Many of my customers come to me and tell me how smart their children are when it comes to using the Internet and how they do not know if they can learn as much. I always tell them that the children have so much more time to learn new things than they do, and once I do that they see that they can learn just as much as their children.
