The Corner Commentary

It amazes me the number of people that I come in contact with that still use weak passwords. Passwords like "Joe", "345", "pencil" which are so simple one might as well have a blank password-of which I do know some who have done that. And this is not just for the user account, but some also do it for the administrator account.

Then, after something happens, they come running to me to fix it and get upset when I tell them that if they had strong passwords that it might have prevented the problem. But, until it happens to most people they will not do anything to fix a weak password but rely on the fact that their computer is but one out of millions and so they go happily along feeling safe and contented.
